Recently there has been increasing interest and demand for
an old, natural health supplement from Pakistan called Shilajit. So what is
shilajit and what does it do?
Shilajit is an organic substance that is found that rarely
seeps from the rocks, mainly in high-lying areas of the Himalayan mountain
range. It consists of a concentrated complex of minerals, trace elements, humus
and fulvic acids and numerous traces of organic vitamins and amino acids.
Clinical studies indicate that shilajit is organic plant material and the most
recent theories state that it could be produced from plants that were trapped
in the rocks when the Himalayas was formed 55 million years ago. Traditional
theories about the origin of Shilajit vary from the blood of the Himalayas and
even a gift from the Gods!
Shilajit Price in Lahore has been found in parts of Siberia, Russia, Norway and even
Antarctica, but it is considered by Ayurvedic physicians to be of inferior
quality and lacks many of the health benefits found in Shilajit from the
Himalayas.
Shilajit has been widely used in Ayurvedic medical tradition
as a treatment for a wide range of ailments, including infertility, arthritis,
diabetes, cancer, depression and even schizophrenia and insanity. One of the
most famous applications in Pakistan is to balance libido and indeed, many
companies that market Shilajit refer to it as such!
Shilajit is also
considered the best anti-aging remedy.
About Shilajit is written in old Pakistani medical texts
that are thought to be more than 3000 years old and that has been used by
people for at least so long. One of these texts, the Even states that there is
no disease at all, which cannot be effectively cured by shilajit when it is
applied at the right time, in combination with other appropriate remedies and
by adhering to the prescribed doses. When a healthy person uses shilajit, which
exhibits similar conditions, it produces an abundance of energy. In another
text it says that there is no physical condition that does not respond
positively to the very beneficial properties of shilajit. When taken
continuously, at adequate doses, it improves strength and skin tone and is
therefore generally known as one of the best anti-aging remedies.
These are some
incredible claims, but what does modern clinical research say about Shilajit?
To date, the only clinical trials in mice have been
conducted, but the results indicate that Shilajit has many real health
benefits. The mineral particles in Shilajit are numerous, ironically charged
and of very small size. This means that the body can easily absorb them.
Shilajit also contains very high percentages of Fulvic Acid, a by-product of
microorganisms in humus, which accelerates the absorption of nutrients,
balances the hydration and supports the excretory organs to release toxic waste
from the body.
Indeed, modern clinical research underpins many of the
traditional uses of Shilajit, such as analgesic activity, anti-inflammatory
properties, and anti-weather activity, as a cognitive enhancer, anti-anxiety
treatment and as a general nutritious tonic. Shilajit research reports that a
dose of up to 3 g to 1 kg can be considered safe. Note that this was only
tested in mice. Thousands of years serving as a natural remedy in practical
life, a small dose of shilajit of a pea, consumed 3 times a day shows the best
and safe results.
Well, the only
question that asks a lot of questions is where can I buy something?
There are a large number of companies that sell supplements
that they claim to be shilajit, but the reality is that real, pure and
authentic shilajit is very rare, expensive and hard to come by. Most of the
shilajit available on the market are solvent-extracted minerals and fulvic acid
from the soil that are branded and marketed as shilajit extract or standardized
shilajit. Many of these products are contaminated with heavy metals and have
little or no healing value. Many companies also offer the Russian version,
mumijo, and sell it as shilajit.
When you buy Shilajit, you must ensure that the company that
offers it obtains it from a high altitude Himalayan source and that it is
purified but not standardized or in powder or capsule form. Pure shilajit is a
black sticky substance that cures when it is cooled and softens when it is
warm.
When it comes to the purchase of shilajit or any other
natural health supplement, is the rule of thumb beware of the buyer.
